Now that the world is comfortably starting to ease out of lockdowns and vaccinate the most vulnerable of the populace, people can finally start to safely plan vacations for the next few years. One of the hardest parts of being contained to your homeland is how to decide where you will go once you’re free!
Today we will have a look at the top places to visit around the globe to help you find your sunny paradise to lay down and forget the last 18 months or simply to add to your list of dream locations to plan for over the next few years.
Havana – Cuba
If you’re looking for a relatively cheap place to hang out to get used to the idea of an open world, this is your place! With beautiful and hot sunny weather all through winter, this is a brilliant place to head if you want to avoid the bite of your average American winter while staying fairly close to home.
Getting here can be a little awkward as the USA still looks down on travel to this (mostly) ex-Communist state, but you can simply get a connecting flight to pretty much anywhere else on the continent and head over there to drink the finest rum straight from the source.
Negril – Jamaica
Rastafarianism and Marijuana are the main things associated with Jamaica. This is an absolute disservice to this Caribbean paradise, as the island is home to an inordinate amount of culture, delicious homely food and hot sun all year round.
Even without the Rastas’ sacred leaf, it is impossible not to feel relaxed and at one with the local culture and wildlife and you will always feel at home and welcome to the island and its stunning beaches.
Kaua’i – Hawaii
This is not the usual island that US citizens are found flocking to every holiday season. Kaua’i is considered a little bit of a hidden gem, you won’t find it on the front of any Hawaii hospitality magazine, but most of the best places to visit are less talked about! For those willing to go against the grain, this island will satisfy any budding explorers and vacationers almost instantly.
Covered mostly in jungle and beach and with a very small amount of built-up civilization, this beautiful island still feels natural and new, while providing you with all the amenities you would hope for from a holiday destination.
Bora Bora – Tahiti
One of the world’s most unique and wonderous vacation spots, Bora Bora is home to the villas suspended over shallow beaches you’ve seen all over your Instagram. Located in the middle of nowhere – French Polynesia – Bora Bora is expensive to travel to and stay in, but you won’t be regretting the decision for a minute.
With a hot sun and clear skies all year, you could lose weeks to the almost endless shallow waters and shockingly clear water and sleeping in a hut above the beach is an experience you can’t find in many other locations on the globe.
Bali – Indonesia
Another beautiful island, Bali is unique even amongst the dozens of islands found in Indonesia. Bali has been occupied for over 4000 years and as a result is home to countless pieces of Asian and religious history. There are few other places where you can relax on a sunny beach with an ancient Hindu temple in your eyeline!
This is another expensive place to get to, but one of the great advantages of Indonesia is the cheap prices across the board for food and accommodation, despite its popularity as a tourist destination. This makes it very cost effective – especially if you’ve been saving up those air miles!
Possidi – Greece
Another lesser-known spot as most people visiting Greece will head to one of the many historical islands or the dozens of historical ruins on the mainland. For those willing to go native and dig deep into the outskirts of the country, you can find some incredible spots.
Situated at the end of a Halkidiki peninsula, Possidi is an extremely quiet tourist settlement considered to be a secret of the area. Beyond the hills, cliffs, and clear view of the mighty Mount Olympus, there is a serene sand-spit pushing far into the Mediterranean’s beautiful clear waters so you can sun-bathe surrounded by sand with no one around!
The Dominican Republic
No sunny vacation list can ever be complete without a proper Caribbean vacation spot, and the Dominican Republic is by far my favorite. Much like its neighbor Haiti, this region can be fraught with natural disasters, but the risk is worth it to millions of tourists a year – and for good reason!
A relatively cheap Caribbean spot, the Dominican Republic still boasts the huge resorts, magnificent beaches and scorching sunshine you can come to expect from the area. Just watch out for all the other post-covid visitors!
Bondi Beach – Australia
Bondi is an area made most famous by various international programs and news headlines focused on the insane surfing and beach culture in the area. While being heavily populated for the Australian summer, Bondi still boasts some beautiful beaches and magnificent water with great Pacific waves to satisfy the sporty amongst you.
This area is unique on this list in that it is by far the most developed vacation spot on the list, being part of a large city in one of the most populated areas of the continent, making it a brilliant starting point for those who want to explore the world but maintain a level of comfort they are used to.
